Porcelain scent bottle, souvenir of Stratford-on-Avon

Porcelain scent bottle made for the souvenirs market; it figures a little girl sitting against a tree trunk; on the base is written in gold: “A present from Stratford on Avon”, birthplace of William Shakespeare; it is liberally decorated with gold accents. Gilding add an additional firing to the production process after three previous firings have been done; some factories cut costs by cold painting, not firing, the gold as in this case; “Foreign” is stamped in red on the bottom, (German products intended for export to Great Britain-British import law, 1926).
