Very rare example of the first commercial solid perfume “Violette du Czar”

Very rare exemple of the first commercial solid perfum “Violette du Czar”; it is in perfect condition and the solid perfum looks like chalk now; it is marked Ess. Oriza Solifié established in 1811 by L.Legrand after purchasing formulas from descendants of Fargeon, the perfumer to the then 10 year old Louis XV and then court perfumers to Napoleon III, and the British, Russian and Italian royalty. In this century the company had two major innovations, with the 1879 introduction of Parfumerie Oriza and the patent in 1887 for solid perfumes. The Parfumerie Oriza was Legrand’s first perfume line and included related cosmetics and toiletries under one name with coordinated graphics; this line was so successful that the company became known as Oriza-Legrand: this was a successful company and won the gold medal in the 1889 Exhibition and the Grand Prix in the 1900 Exhibition. The business was purchased in 1860 by Antonin Raynaud and his widow sold it to Armand Schul around 1910 and was later known as Zociete Centrale de la Parfumerie Francaise: Oriza Parfums still exists and they kindly replied to an inquiring letter of mine. This perfum came to me from a lady related to Lazzaro Spallanzani, the great Italian scientist (1729-1799).
