Mandolin perfume box

Silver and enamel perfume box shaped like a mandolin of Viennese manufacture (probably by Simon Grenew). Difficult to say whether the exterior, decorated with guilloché enamel musical scenes, is more beautiful than the enamelled blue and gold interior, which contains a “pastille” in gold engraved with a sacred subject: St. George fighting the dragon. Little suspension chain. This iconography and the box-like shape recall the use of a solid essence, and therefore a mixed functionality between aesthetics and treatments.

Material: enamelled silver and gold
Size: ø 2 cm
Country:  Austria
