Corozo coquilla nut scent bottle featuring a scene from Iliade

Corozo coquilla nut scent bottle featuring a scene from Iliade: Achilles swears revenge on the body of his friend Patroclus. On the back side a butterfly flying on a bunch of flowers, symbol of rebirthing. Embossed silver screw cap. Coconut as the corozo was worked by sailors or by convicts: the latter worked to pass the time but mainly to get some money to improve their lives while sailors worked these natural materials during their long journeys. These objects coconut or corozo are fine examples of folk art.
