Ewer-shaped scent bottle, souvenir of Leipzig Expo, 1897

Oval glass scent bottle, ewer-shaped and mounted in gilt brass, souvenir of Leipzig. Scrolled leaf handle and original stopper. I wrote to Leipzig Museum because I wasn’t able to find any news about this building and they replied: “This building is the “Grosses Concert-Haus und Café” planned for the “Sächsisch-Thüringische Industrie- und Gewerbeausstellung Leipzig 1897″ (Saxon-thuringian industry and crafts exhibition).  It probably hasn’t been build because it isn’t to find in the books and official catalogues or postcard series to this monumental event ot the late 19th century in Leipzig. You can see it at the database of the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig. The picture belongs to a small booklet. Maybe it was printed as advertising long time before the exhibition. I presume that your flacon is in the same contex.”
