Palais Royal presentation showing a man reading a book to a girl in front of the fireplace

Palais Royal presentation with a domestic scene of a man reading a book to a little girl in front of the fireplace. The two figurines are porcelain, as is the tiny teacup, while the entire structure is in gilded metal and is very rich in objects and details: a chair with a richly worked back, a pincushion stool and a black cat. Near the fireplace hang a bellows and a salt cellar and in front of it are placed a wood tongs and a shovel. The fire is rendered with two pieces of orange and red velvet. The chimney cowl opens by tilting to reveal a blue glass bottle with a gilded silver stopper nestled in the red velvet. The whole rests on a shaped wooden base covered in orange velvet, faded by time.
