Round scent bottle in repoussed silver showing a nymph and a horse near a water pool

Silver round scent bottle, decorated on both sides with a repousse work representing a nymph and a horse at the border of a water pool. Under the cartouche an inscription in Latin reads “bagnolenses invenit fontes”: the translation means approximately that the Bagnolenses ( who were Cathars from Bagnolo San Vito, near Mantua-Italy during the later Middle Ages) found the source. Screw cap, hallmarked “P revolver Q” inside a lozenge, for Quitte Prudent, fabriquant bijoutier, 42 Rue de Notre Dame de Nazareth, Paris: this mark was registered on November 15, 1882. The same iconography appears on prints and objects from the late nineteenth century.
