Carved ivory perfume bottle depicting on one side a scene from Aesop’s fable “The Fox and the Stork” and on the other a scene that is more difficult to identify, but given the animal’s position and the presence of a tree, it could be a free interpretation of “The Fox and the Grapes.” Both sides feature richly carved decorations with fruit and leaves in Renaissance style. The stopper is shaped like a hand holding a hammer. The wrist has been restored with the insertion of a thin metal pin that has partially blackened the ivory.
