Round pendant scent bottle made of Galuchat with silver cap

Round flattened scent bottle made of Galuchat (or stingray). Silver globular hinged cap marked for silver with small handles for a missing suspension chain The stingray is the tanned skin of a shark, usually the dogfish (Scyliorhinus canicula). This skin is very hard and durable but, because of its high production cost, is used only for valuable objects. The name come from Jean Claude Galuchat, a French craftsman who was the first one to use this kind of material and worked for Louis XIV. This material came back on fashion in France around 1920.
